KNICKERBOCKER WRONG GERMANS MAKE READY?

PREPARATION OF BOATS

Rec. 11.30 p.m. London, Sept. 13. For once the American newspaper correspondent, Mr. H. - R. Knickerbocker, has prophesied wrongly. In a dispatch dated Septernber 12 he said he had received a "hot tip" that the invasion of Britain by the Germans would start to-day. The German radio says that every man of the German forces will be waiting the word to move from Monday. German long range Channel guns were silent this morning. Attempt by Speedboats? According to a neutral informant who has just arrived from Germany Hitler has collected 1500 to 2000 naval speedboats, each capable of holding 70 men, for the invasion of Britain, states an Istanbul message. Many are stated to have been destroyed by recent Royal Air Force raids. The informant declares that ill-feeling has lately grown considerably between

the German troops and Nazi Black Guards. Clashes have occurred between officers on leave and young Black Guards who have never been at the front. The issue of larger rations to Black Guards is also causina resentment The German news agency reported that General von Brauschitsch, German com-mander-in-chief, has completed a tour of inspection of northern France and the Atlantic coast. ' The Rome radio stated that one of the German generals directing the offensive against Britain participated in yesterday's raids over London. His plane was hit but he safely landed in France.
