Mrs. T. J. Hurley has returned after spending a fortnight's holiday at Auckland. Mrs. S. R. Veitch is spending a few days at Wellington. Mrs. Raine, Wanganui, is the guest of her daughter, Mrs. B. L. Joll. Mrs. Austin Bewley, who has been the guest of Mrs. David Hetherington for the past week, has returned to New Plymouth. Miss Dorothy Hopcroft will leave today to spcnd a week at Auckland. Mrs. E. P. du Fresne is spending a few days with relatives at Wellington. Mrs. W. A. Quin is spending a fortnight with her daughter, Mrs. Terence Lacy, Wellington. Complinientary Dinner. Among those who attended a dinner given by Mrs. S. Fahy to the Athletic Club fourth team on Wednesday evening were Mesdames W. Betteridge, D. E. Woolliams, J. Smith (Whakamara). R. Hill (Meremere), Lindsay, Watson, O'Dea and West. A musical evening and supper party, with Mrs. Woolliams as hostess, concluded the evening. Farewell Party Held. Mrs. L. V. Gibson's drawing-room was bright with vases of spring blooms on Wednesday afternoon, when members of the Ramanui Institute gathered to farewell one of their number, Mrs. Stan. Phillips, who is leaving the district. Mrs. Tugwell. president, spoke of the regret of members at Mrs. Phillips' departure. Since her arrival from England two years ago Mrs. Phillips has been a member of the institute and has been vice-president and treasurer for the past year. A gift and shoulder spray were presented to the guest of honour. Misses Margaret and Jocelyn Ross gave posies to Mrs. Phillips snr. and to Mrs. Gibson. Competitions were won by Mrs. S. Phillips and Mrs. F. King. Assisting the hostess were Mrs. Martin Smith and Mrs. Ross.
