Miss H. E. Green, Lake Windermere, England, left on Thursday for Napier after spending a holiday at North Egmont. ■ Mrs. Alan Little, Henderson, arrivedat New Plymouth on Tliursday night and is the guest of Mrs. J. M. Warnock. Mesdames H. W. Lightband, Gordon Sykes, G. A. Eddowes, H. Purser and Miss M. McGuire left yesterday for Eltham to take part in the women's golf tournament. Miss Frances O'Callaghan will return to Palmerston North to-morrow after spending a holiday at New Plymouth with her mother, Mrs. M. O'Callaghan. Miss Holt, Napier, is spending a holi- ; day at North Egmont. j Mrs. K. Robinson, Wellington, is visit- \ ing New Plymouth. } Mrs. A. R. Standish has returned from a short holiday at North Egmont. Mrs. H. G. Jordan left on Thursday for a visit to Feilding. Miss K. Scotter is visiting Wellington. Mrs. A. H. Avery left yesterday to spend a few days at Wanganui. Miss Dorothy Clarke is at present on a visit to Palmerston North and Wellington. Next-of-Kin Club. There was a good attendance yesterday afternoon at the monthly gathering of the next-of-kin club at the Workers' Social Hall. Letters and photographs from men with the fighting forces overseas were exchanged and there was a display of Egyptian coins, beads, embroideries and leather goods, which liad been sent to Mrs. Wood by her son, Private T. H. Wood of the first echelon. Community singing was led by Mrs. L. R. Curtis with Mrs. Ivy V. Hutchings at the piano. Items were given by Mrs. C. Perham (songs) and Mesdames Dean and Laurie Smith (humorous sketch). Seven members of the New Plymouth branch of the health and beauty movement, led by their teacher, Mrs. C. D. Graham, gave a demonstration of exercises, including sequences of circulation, breathing, waist and shoulder movements. Mrs. P. Fredric was accompanist. Afternoon tea was served by the committee and a competition for a parcel packed for sending overseas was won by Mrs. W. Worn. Scottish Women's Club. The New Plymouth Scottish Women's Club held its meeting on Tuesday in the Workers' Social Hall. Mrs. D. M. Findlay presided over a good attendance of members and friends. A successful "bring and buy" was held. The musical programme was contributed to by Miss J. Cocker (songs), Miss McPhillips (elocutionary items) and Miss Flora McDonald (songs). Mrs. A. G. Wilson was accompanist. Several new members were welcomed and several knitted articles handed in. Proceeds from the sale were for patriotic work.
