CANADA SUPPLIES ARMS Rec. 7.15 p.m. Ottawa. Sept. 11. The Minister of Supply, Mr. C. D. Howe, said to-day that Canadian war industries, augmented by more than 200.000,000 dollars capital expenditure, were entering a period where, instcad of building. they were producing. The total capital expenditure on plant and equipment in Canada by England a-d Canada jointly was as follows:— Explosives and chemicals. 58.400.000 dollars, armament, 67, 000, Oi J dollars; ammunition, 19,000,000 dollars; shells, cartridge cases, fuses, 1,400,000 dollars; automotive equipment, including tanks, 4,300,000 dollars; base metals and aircraft, 62,000,000 dollars. British purchases since the outbreak of the war amounted to 208.000.000 dollars, exclusive of lumbcr and foodstuffs. Canadian war purchases totallcd 135,OOO.o t'j dollars, exlusive of plant extensions
