HODGKINSON—SMART
A wedding of Stratford interest took place at the Broughton Memorial Church, Kisumu, Kenya Colony, on July 28, when Margaret Irene, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Smart, Stratford, was married to John Thorpe Hodgkinson, wireless officer attached to the Air Ministry of Kisumu, and only son of the late Mr. J. H. Hodgkinson, Cheltenham, England, and Mrs. Hodgkinson. The Ven. Archdeacon Owen officiated and Mr. Louis Gillespie was best manv The bride, who was given away by Mr. John Riddoch, wore a gown of powder blue crepe Marista with a cross-pleated bodice caught at the throat with a pearl clip, knife-pleated skirts and shaped embroidered belt. She had a high-crowned and flaring white Bankok hat and veil and carried a sheaf of delphiniums and lilies tied with cyclamen and blue ribbons to match the decorations in the church. These were arranged by Mrs. Perrean, Mrs. Garnham and Mrs. Riddoch; Dr. P. C. C. Garnham played the organ for the ceremony and Messrs. Connell and Adam were the ushers. Over 100 guests were present at the reception, which was held afterwards at the residenee of the District Commissioner. Mrs. Perrean, as hostess, was in a smart black marocain dress with green and white polka dots and a large Mexican Leghorn hat; she carried a mixed bouquet. Mr. John Riddoch proposed the health of the bride and bridegroom, to which the latter responded. and Mr. J. Maxwell, senr., proposed a toast to absent parents and friends. The bride and bridegroom left later by car for Uganda and the Mountains of the Moon, Mrs. Hodgkinson travelling in an attraetive navy blue hat. shoes and gloves.
