SANDY POWELL AT THE STATE.
NAVAL COMEDY, "ALL AT SEA." Sandy Powell's funniest film to dat'e is his latest G.B.D. comedy hit, "All at Sea," which begins to-day at the State Theatre, and in which the famous comedian plays the role of a seaman in the Royal Navy. Sandy appears as A.B. Skipton, who wages a lone fight against a pair of enemy agents who are trying to steal a secret new high explosive. Sandy takes the explosive away with him when he is sacked from a chemical factory where he is employed as a messenger, joins the navy, and is sent to the Mediterranean. The crooks chase after him and then ensues a series of hilarious thrills in which first Sandy and then the crooks obtain possession of the explosive, and although they threaten to blow up the ship, Sandy triumphs in a series of riotous situations. "All a't Sea" was produced with the full co-operation of the British Admiralty, which granted special facilities during the making of the picture and thus many new and magnificent scenes of the fleet have been incorporated, while Sandy Powell introduces one of the first great naval wartime songs, "Oh, Ain't It Grand to Be in the Navy." Supporting Sandy Powell are Kay Walsh, John Warwick, Gus McNaughton and Leslie Perrins. Included in the supporting programme are special nev/sreels which feature "The Air War Over Britain," showing German planes brought down, homes shattered by the raiders, emergency workers in action, etc. Box plans are at Gilmour's, land and estate agents.
