Value of Testing.
A pedigree Jersey cow placed under test by her owner. a well-known North Taranaki farmer. for the first time as an eight-year-old,' gave up to 871b. fat for a month. No doubt when her owner saw this result his gratification was somewhat subdued by realisation of the fact that earlier in her career he had sent two of her bull calves away at the bobby calf value. This once again shows how necessary it is that every farmer should test to ascertairi the true value of every cow in his herd. Taranaki Farm Workers. The demand for farm labour is apparently slackening in Taranaki, the applications received by the Placement Officer at New Plymouth from the whole of Taranaki during the past week having totalled only 32. This statement was made at a meeting of the North Taranaki Council of Primary Production, when it was also explained that some complaints had been received by the officer from men brought from thp South Island that they did not know what type of farm work they were coming to in Taranaki.
