JAPANESE TROOPS
INDO-CHINA FRONTIER Rec. 5.5 p.m. Hongkong, Sept. 10. Cne thousand Japanese troops crossed over thd Indo-China frontier at Dong Dang, but withdrew after a French protest. The French are still firmly opposing Japanese attempts to gain a free hand in Indo-China. The Japanese apologised swiftly when the French threatened to abandon negotiations. A Kweilin message states that the Japanese have transferred 4000 troops from Lungchow to the Indo-China border and 5000 volunteer Formosan High School students. It is authoritatively stated at Kweilin that the Indo-China Government has ordered the immediate evacuation of all European women and children from border towns, such as Kaohang and Langson. The Chinese blew up the international bridge at Laokay. on ihe northern frontier iietween Indo-China and Yunnan, says a Hanoi message. The Indo-China authorities blew up a bridge at Shuikow on the Hwagnsi border, 25 miles west of Lungchow, according to a Chungking report.
