ON TO PORTUGAL
FORMER RUMANIAN KING Rec. 8.20 p.m. Lugano, Sept. 11. Ex-King Carol and Madame Magda Lupescu have left Lugano, Switzerland, -for Portugal via Italian-occupied France. The ex-King's name is being erased from all army associations, says a message from Bucharest. Ten generals and one admiral who allegedly degraded the prestige of th,e arms have been retired. The title of ambassador has been abolished. Ambassadors and ministers have been recalled from Vichy, The Vatican, Ankara, Berne, Washington, Lisbon, Stockholm and Berlin. Gabriel Marinescu, a former Bucharest police prefect, attempted to escape to ^ Yugoslavia under a false passport but was detained by legionaries and returned to Bucharest.
