Mr. Joseph Little, New Plymouth, is a patient in a private hospital. Mr. J. N. Bryant. Awakino, who had been visiting New Plymouth, returned to his home yesterday. The condition of Aircraftsman P. R. Paul, R.N.Z.A.F.. Harewood, who is a [patient in a Christchurch hospital, is reported to be improving. Captain L. D. Hickford. who is in camp at Tauherenikau, visited New Plymouth yesterday to attend a meeting of the New Plymouth manpower committee, of which he is chairman. * Mr. W. A. Sheat, Pihama, a member of the board, also visited New Plymouth for the same purpose. Dr. and Mrs. G. M. Foote returned to Auckland from England recently after two and a-half years' absence. Dr. Foote has been engaged in post-graduate surgery work in the Great Ormond Street, Royal Northern and Royal Masoriic Hospitals at London, while Mrs. Foote. who also is a doctor, has been specialising in anaesthetics. Dr. Foote, who is an old Onehunga boy, has returned home to enlist in the New Zealand forces. Mr. Bernard Allen, New Zealand manager of United Artists (Australasia) Pty. Ltd., died suddenly yesterday at a private hospital at Wellington, states a Press Association message. Mr. Allen was born at Brisbane 49 years ago. He came to Wellington in 1929 as New Zealand manager of United Artists. He was a keen golfer and fisherman. He made a number of deep-sea fishing expeditions and was successful with swordfish off Cape Brett.
