ST. JOHN AMBULANCE
FUND APPEAL AT NEW PLYMOUTH To-morrow the St. John Ambulance will make an appeal for funds to further the humanitarian work of the association and the St. John Ambulance Brigade at j.,ew Plymouth. The good work being done in the interests of the - sic.k and injured (first-aid and nursing), in the homes of the people, on the field of sport and on the wharves and streets of the town is well known and appreciated by all sections of the community. To render this continuous year in year out service considerable expense is entailed in the provision of suitable rooms and materials for instruction and practical work. It should be clearly understood that all persons associated with the movement must join up on a voluntary basis without hope of monetary reward and that the services of all members irrespective of rank or position are given free in order to push forward the work of - this instructional and free service organisation. Irrespective of whatever disaster that could happen at New Plymouth or in other parts of New Zealand recent tests or "tryouts" have proved that the local organisation could effectively deal with the treatment of any injuries received and provide the necessary transport for the removal of injured persons. After careful considcration of the merits of having such an organisation in our midst all will surely welcome the opportunity of showing in a tangible form their appreciation o£ the services rendered over a period of many years.
