PERSONAL

Mr. H. McFeely has commenced duty at the Turuturu school as head teacher. Mr. McFeely, ■ who was previously first assistant at South Wellington school, was the guest at many farewells prior to his departure from Wellington. The school committee, the staff of the school, the pupils, the South Wellington Old Pupils and Parents' Association, made him presentations, and with the Wellington Football Association and t.he Wellington Primary Schools' Swimming Association, in which bodies he held executive positions, voiced appreciation of his services. Cr. Smart, who was appointed to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr. P. O. Veale, was welcomed to the council table by the Mayor, Mr. L. H. Clapham. at a special meeting of the Hawera Borough Council on Monday night. The members of the council were pleased that he had consented to reoccupy a seat on the council, said Mr. Clapham.
