PLAIN WARNING GIVEN

^Wellington, Last Night. Warning shots were fired recently from forts at the Wellington harbour mouth when a man in a rowboat ventured into forbidden waters in Breaker Bay. He took the hint. Some weeks ago Chaffer's Passage and adjoining waters were gazetted as closed to shipping including small • craft. Recently, apparently in ignorance, a fi'sherman ventured into the affected area. To warn him he was not allowed there a burst from a Lewis gun was fired in his vicinity. No other action has been taken although it is understood the police have power to prosecute for a breach of the regulations.
