Mr. W. C. Green, chairman of the Egmont County Council, has been appointed by that body as its representative on the Taranaki centennial celebrations committee. Corporal Ian G. S. Millar, Central District Military Command (Trentham) School, is spending a few days' leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. S. Millar, New Plymouth. Mr. Ian Loveridge, who is now on the staff of the general post office, Wellington, is spending his leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Loveridge, Westown, before proceeding to Trentham with the Wellington draft of the 4th reinforcements. Mr. K. Gupji, who was Consul-General of Japan at Wellington till his transfer to a similar post at Honolulu . at the beginning of this year, has been recalled to Tokio. He and his family will leave Honolulu about the rniddle of this month. Mr, Percy Roy Paul, clerk in the Royal New Zealapd Air Force station at Harewood, Christchurch, was admitted to Burwood hospital yesterday, where he was reported to be seriously ill with pneumonia. Mr. Paul is the husband of Mrs. M. Paul, 12 Morley Street, New Plymouth. The Rt. Rev. H. St. Barbe Holland, Bishop of Wellington, who recently underwent an operation, has now returned to his home from hospital. After a short stay at Bishopscourt His Lordship will go away to continue his convalescence. Mr. Herbert Henry Glentworth, Eltham, who died suddenly on Sunday at the Wellington Winter Show buildings, where he was serving on home defence. is survived by his widow and a family of five, his mother, five brothers, Thomas, Joseph, William, Robert (Wanganui) and Christopher (Wellington) and three sisters, Mesd airies J. Cross (Fordell), White (Helensville) and McGlashan (New Plymouth). Messrs. C. S. Wylds, Hawera, and formerly of New Plymouth, and T. E. Drake, who have been called up for camp, were farewelled at Hawera by the staff of the Farmers' Co-op. Society, when Mr. C. G. Trotter, general manager, made a presentation to each man. Mr. Trotter also mentioned that Messrs. R. Shepherd and N. Franklyn, ' of the Eltham and Waitara branches respectively, would also be leaving for camp ' with the fourth reinforcements.
