A "DIFFERENT" FILM.

"VIGIL IN THE NIGHT" AT PLAZA. Deviating from the customary doctornurse picture, RKO-Radio's "Vigil in the Night," which will be shown for the first time at the Plaza Theatre, Stratford, tonight, accurately presents the inside story of a nurse's duties as well as a drama of romantic ordeals. Starring Carole Lombard, Brian Aherne and Anne Shirley, the story is told from a nurse's standpoint, with two hospitals in England supplying the backgrounds. With A. J. Cronin, a noted doctor-author, writing the original story, the authenticity of the dramatic situation is unquestionable. A. J. Cronin is one of the better known of the medical men who have turned to literature, his "The Citadel" having achieved wide popularity as h novel as well as a screen offering. A distinguished Scots physician who had a big London practice before he became a writer, Cronin draws on his wide experience for his stories and atmosphere, and in "Vigil of the Night" he has achieved an unusual degree of realism. As further evidence of the authenticity of technical detail contained in the RKO Radio film, a recent issue of "R.N.," journal of registered nurses, printed an article by Nurse Luscomb who saw "Vigil in the Night" in production. She brings out the fact that the film is the first to depict the nursing sisterhood sincerely and accurately.
