RAIN FALLS EACH DAY
STRATFORD'S WET SPELL "Rain without end, that's what it is," said a man at Stratford yesterday as he gazed skywards from beneath the rim of a dripping umbrella. And he was right, for every day of the present month has constituted a wet day at Stratford, as is proven by the records of the official recorder for the Department of Industrial and Scientific Research. The rccording system regards any fall from .01 of an inch upwards as being a rain day, and Stratford has produced one of these daily since the last August sheet shed by calendars. So far, the elcments have done their best to catch up on the fall of last month, for the recorded fall up until yesterday was 2.63 inches, compared with 3.34 inches for the whole of August. As a result Central Taranaki pastures are in good heart and their greenness bespeaks the good farming weather being enjoyed in the district. Rain is recorded from 9 a.m. one day to 9 a.m. the next, and the final 24 hours in any month finish at 9 a.m. on the first of the 'next month. The first complete rain day in September ended at 9 a.m. on the 2nd with .35 inches. It was followed by the 3rd, .03; 4th, .82; 5th, .78; 6th, .01; 7th, .11; 8th, .28; 9th, .15; 10th, .10.
