LEAGUE CLUB DANCE
' VISITORS ENTERTAINED Over 250 people were present at the Stratford town hall on Saturday night when the Stratford Rugby League Club held a complimentary dance in honour of .the visiting City (Auckland) Rugby League football team. Mi\ A. Richards welcomed the City team and party and congratulated the players on their enterprise in bringing such a fine body of sportsmen to Stratford. In replying Mr. E. Asher, manager of the City team, congratulated Stratford on a well-merited victory. He expressed pleasure at the great strides the League code had made at Stratford. "I understand," said Mr. Asher, "that ours is the first team of Auckland footballers ever to visit Stratford and I hope that this visit will be the forerunner of many more." Opportunity was taken during the evening by Mr. Richards, on behalf of Stratford League club members to make a presentation to Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Bublitz. Mrs. Bublitz, by her hospitality, and Mr. Bublitz, as coach of the senior team, had both rendered valuable services to the club, said Mr. Richards. Mr. Bublitz thanked members for their co-operation during the season and said he was fully repaid for his efforts after witnessing the team's performance during the afternoon. Mr. C. Webb and Miss Martin won a lucky spot waltz and Mr. and Mrs. Bublitz won a Monte Carlo.
