OPUNAKE COMPETITIONS PLAY IN CHAMPIONSHIPS Progress was made at the week-end in various club competitions conducted at the Opunake Golf Club's links. Quarterfinalists have appeared in the Waiaua Cup, and club championships have been advanced a further stage. Results were:— Club championships:— Senior, first round: J. G. Mclvor beat F. Hammond 2 and 1; E. G. Snell beat G. Feaver by default; L. A. Baker beat R. Otene by default. Ihtermediate, first round: W. Ingram beat R. E. Peat 5 and 4; R. Harding beat J. Morris 7 and 6; R. Croad beat H W Rarracloush bv default. Second
round: Harding beat Croad 6 and 4; E. Pickering beat W. E. Gunson 4 and 2. Junior, second rOund: J. Hooper beat H. Shields 4 and 3. Waiaua Cup:— First _ round: N. Des Forges beat H. W. Barraclough 4 and 3. Second round: C. Otene beat W. R. Ingram 1 up. Third round: L. Baker beat G. Feaver 2 up; Otene won by default; H. W. Frank won by default. Spring Cup:— First round: H. W. Frank beat P. Harding at the 19th; N. Des Forges beat G. Feaver 3 and 1; E. G. Snell beat R. E. Peat 3 and 2. Second round: J. Hooper beat Frank 5 and 4; C. Otene beat J. G. Mclvor at the 19th.
