WHAREHUIA GARDEN
BLOOMS BLAZE OF COLOUR Miserable though the wet weather in Central Taranaki was yesterday, there was one bright spot in the district which excited commendation from all who saw it— the polyanthus collection in Mr. M. Lawson's garden at Wharehuia. Over 2000 plants, containing no fewer than 703 shacles of blooms— thought to be the largest collection in the province— present a blaze of colour in his garden at the present time despitc the weather. The multitude of flowers presents a variegated mass of tints in rcd, orange, blues, creams, white, salmon, pinks, browns, mauves, black. ycllows and hundreds of other pastel shades. Included among the blooms was a most unusual one of a delicate green hue. Mr. Lawson is a private gardener and grows thousands of polyanthus as well as other flowers. This season the polyanthus section of his hobby is particularly outstanding and is attracting the interest of gardeners and flower-lovers throughout the district.
