EUCHRE AT HURFORD ROAD
The Hurford Road women's social patriotic committee held its fortnightly afternoon, when a bring-and-buy and card party was held. The takings for the afternoon amounted to £2 15s 9d. Competition results were: Fancy jug donated by Mrs. J. Lynch, Mrs. J. Thomas; locknit set donated by Mrs. C. Salt, Miss Lynch; turkey donated by Mrs. T. Schrider, Mr. E. M. Walsh. The winners of euchre were: Mrs. Trass and Mrs. Banks 1, Mrs. F. Krutz and Mrs. T Walsh 2. Prizes were donated by Mrs. J. McCurdy and Miss W. Marsh. A long-night dance was held in the Hurford Road hall on Thursday night. Monte Carlo dances were won by Mr. and Mrs. C. Salt and Miss P. Lynch and Mr. R. Adlam. Euchre for non-dancers was held, the winners being Mrs. C. Taylor and Mrs. Banks equal 1, Mr. J. Lynch 1. Mrs. Simonsen is staying with her sister, Mrs. H. Krutz. Mr. and Mrs. W. Hanover are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. T. Schrider. Mrs. J. Thomas is in the New Plymouth hospital. ....... Higgins has been viaitin0 friends in the district. Mr. G. Duke has returned.
