SPRING FLOWER SHOW
EXHIBITS AT MANAIA DECREASE IN ENTRIES Though petrol restrictions hindered the transport of blooms, and so caused a decrease in the number of entries, the annual spring flower show at Manaia yesterday contained some very good displays, especially narcissi. The champion bloom in the narcissi section was a seedling Lcedsii Onyx, raised and exhibited by Mr. F. A. Quin. The champion of the cut bloom section was a large and handsome clivia grown by Mrs. T. W. Armitage. Unfortunately, the exhibits were a little cramped because the entries exceeded the number expected, but even so the display was a very attractive one. During the afternoon excellent business was done at well laden stalls in charge of Mesdames H. C. Wills and J. W. Paterson and Mr. O. T. Parry (produce), Misses M. Auton and E. Parry (sweets), and Misses J. Wells and J. Walker (hoop-la). Afternoon tea was served under the supervision of Mesdames G. C. Calman, S. H. le Fleming and E. Adams. Results were:— Cut Flowers.
