COMPLAINTS IN WAIKATO
Hamilton, Sept. 9. Exception- was taken by the Waikato executive of the Farmers' Union to the action of the Oil Fuel Controller in arbitrarily cutting down farmers' allocation of benzine without consulting the users concerned. It was stated that a wholesale reduction was made in farmers' supplies, and adjustments were only made when complaints were entered. Mr. G. R. Lawry complained that football' teams were supplied with benzine to visit towns 40 miles away. The chairman, Mr. G. T. Crawley, said the attitude of the controller seemed to be that where there were operators on the road farmers would not be permitted to use their own trucks. All applications from farmers for increased supply were given fair consideration. It was resolved to ask the controller not to majce cuts in farmers' benzine supplies without prior investigation.
