FORD AT FLOODED CREEK
Hastings, Last Night. Roy Douglas McKeown a shepherd, unmarried, aged 22, was swept from his horse and drowned in attempting to ford a flooded creek in the Waipawa district on Sunday. i His horse was found that* afternoon with the saddle wet and the saddlebags full of water. A search was begun immediately by the police and a party oi farmers, and the body was found in a deep hole about half a mile below the crossing place this afternoon. The creek is one which is almost dry in summertime and floods considerably in winter. After week-ends of torrential rain in Hawkes Bay it rose to 15 feet.
