KAPONGA RUGBY CLUB

annual smoke concert The second annual smoke concert held by the Kaponga Rugby football club in the supper room of the Kaponga town hall last week was a success. Visitors were present from kindred clubs at Inglewood, Hawera, Opunake, Manaia and Eltham. A long toast list was honoured and musical and other items were contributed. Mr. C. P. Crowley, president of the Kaponga club, was in the chair and after the loyal toast had been honoured a tribute was paid to members on active service. The remainder of the toast list was as follows: Taranaki Rugby Union (Mr. E. Smith— Dr. J. I. R. Gray); Inglewood Team (Mr. H. Benton— Mr. L. Simpson); Kindred Clubs (Mr. W. McAloonMessrs. J. Burke, Waimate, L. Marter, Hawera, and J. Brown, Inglewood); Kaponga Team (Mr. Woolliams— Mr. H. Ecnton); Rcferces (Mr. D. O'Dca— Mr. A. O'Sullivan); Dr. J. I. R. Gray (coach), the team manager, Mr. L. Thouminc, anci the artists were also toasted. I Songs were sung by Messrs. Arthur i Sullivan, C. Rowe and A. R. Paterson, ! and a sketch was given by Mr. B. O'Shaughncssy. Acccmpaniments were played by Messrs. Drake and Spurdle. 1 Community singing was led by Messrs. A. O'Sullivan and A. R. Paterson.
