The first round match play in the Tarurutangi club's championships resulted:— Senior: R. J. Street beat E. Smith 2 and 1, E. R. Street beat W. Sadler 3 and 2. Intermediate: I. Fleming beat R. Steptoe 1 up. Junior: J. Sampson beat L. Remington 3 and 2. A stableford played in conjunction was won by J. Sampson 20 — 17 — 37. Otber cards were: M. Keegan 22 — 14 — 36. E. R. Street 30—5 — 35, S. Giddy 27 — 8 35, W. Sadler 26—8—34. E. Warren 18—15—33. A concealed hole match was won by Mrs. Tailby 99—33—3—63 (senior) and Mrs. Medley, 113—36—5—72 (junior). The qualifying round of the women's championships was played on Saturday, those qualifying being:— Intermediate: Miss Driscoll 94, Mrs. Armstrong 95. Mrs. E. R. Street 99, Mrs. Linn 104. Mrs. A. Street 109, Mrs. Dey 119; junior, Mrs. Tailby 99, Miss Penwarden 104, Miss Hamilton 105, Mrs. Daly 108: limit, Mrs. Medley 113. Mrs. Sampson 117. Miss Stewart 132, Miss Barlow 155.
