SILVER WARE DISAPPEARS
BAFFLING THEFT rROM SHIP FANCY GOODS WORTH £2OO CONI?. BOAT RECENTLY IN NEW FLYMOIT By Telegraph.—Brew Association. Wellington, Last Night. The police are completely baffled over the theft of £2OO worth of silver-plated ware and fancy goods which occurred nearly a month ago on the 10,000-ton cargo steamer Herminius while it was between Auckland and New Plymouth. The vessel has been searched three times from stem to stern, but the police believe the goods are still on board. Th vessel leaves on Saturday for London. The Herminius arrived at New Plymouth early on the morning of March 17 from Gi&borne to load dairy produce for Home. She had sailed from Antwerp on January 17 with basic slag for Auckland. Her gross tonnage is 10,389, and she is 477 feet long. Captain T. V. Roberts is her skipper. From New Plymouth she sailed for Wanganui on March 22.
