Over 300 men are now idle as the result of the cooks’ dispute on the three Huddart-Parker steamers Ulimaroa. Zealandia and Corio., and there is no sign of a settlement. It is stated that unless a settlement of the dispute is reached in a few days the Inter-State Steamship Owners’ Federation will apply to the Federal Arbitration Court for the cancellation of the cooks’ award.
