The Athletic Challenge Shield, points awarded for ehampionship events only (first place 2 points, second 1 point), was won by Victoria with 13J points; Canterbury, with 11J points, was second; Otago, with 11 points, third; and Auckland, with 5 points, fourth. In the basketball competition in the first round Auckland defeated Victoria College, 26—9; and Otago defeated Canterbury 21—5. In the final Auckland defeated Otago 25—12.
