GALLANT RESCUE OF CREW.. By Telegraph—Press Assn —Copyright. A. and N.Z. Sydney, April 9. The steamer Iron Chief, which was stranded near Diamond Head a week ago, was badly battered during the week-end by the southerly storm and was broken up. The crew of S 3 and the salvage parly of nine were rescued yesterday through the courage and resourcefulness of a Carden Haven launchman, Haynataz. He rowed single-handed in a small dinghy from his launch to tlio wreck and consulted the latter’s master. ’Then he returned to the launch which was skilfully taken alongside, despite the heavy seas, and rescued all hands.
