After 24 hours' rain the weather was dull but fine for the second day of the Feilding races. The track was much improved. There was a fairly large attendance, including the Prime Minister (Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates), The totalisator handled £30,738, as compared with £34,936 for the corresponding day last year, and for the meeting £61,259, against £66,779 last year. Results were:—KIMBOLTON HURDLES. THZ RACING DESCRIBED. (By Wire. — Special to News.) (By “Moturoa.”) Feilding, Last Night. After Sunday’s rain the course was a triillo heavy for the concluding day, but the fields were good and the racing again interesting. Taranaki horses were in the money practically all day, although Benzora was the only actual winner. All started in tho Kimbolton Hurdles, Panorama finishing up -favourite with over 60 more tickets than Olympic, and there was a further drop of 100 to Airtight. Alaric led Airtight and Peshwa over the first fence, and. passing the stands Alaric and Airtight were to gether in front, followed by Panorama Matu and Olympic. Alaric’s pace took him to the front at .six furlongs, Airtight and Olympic lying handy. Airtight again joined Alaric at four furlongs, Olympic, Matu and Panorama following closely. Alaric and Airtight entered the straight on even terms. Olympic and Matu closing up fast and the quartette came to the last fence on terms. All jumped badly, the fence being flattened out and Airtight coming to grief. Alaric tired, leaving Olympic and Matu to fight out the finish. Matu wearing Olympic down, won by nearly half a length. Panorama was a length further away, followed by Alaric, Peshwar and Kalakua. Airtight was very unlucky, only having to stand up to win.
THE RAIDERS GOOD WIN. Scratchings reduced the field in th Rena Hack Handicap to nine, the bet ting being even between six runnert Billikins was first favourite, but carrie< onV about 100 more tickets than Eka which was fifth favourite. Hcloti jumped off with her usual brilliancy am led Eka, Billikins and a bunched crow< to the far turn. Billikins was up witi. Helotis as they came into the straight Eka and The Raider being next. Ilelo tis quickly compounded and The Raide finished best, beating Billikins by ncai !y a length. War Wings came fast int third place one length away. I Uiiamp and Helotis finished next. KILMISS ANNEXES THE EASTER Manly and Princess Ngata decline:, their engagements in the Easter Ilan dicap, Joy Bird being made a stron;favourite with nearly a thousand tickets. Duke Abbey carried over 300 les and then there was a further drop o 150 to Vivo. Duke Abbey and Vive jumped out smartest from an excellcm start and led Joy Bird, Paitonu am Cohesion. Passing the stands Duki Abbey set out to crack up Vivo and lec the mare passing the six' furlongs, th order of the others remaining unchang cd. Vivo dropped back at the four fui longs, Duke Abbey and Paitonu bcin: in front, followed by Vivo, Kilmiss am' Joy Bird. The latter then began tdrop back rapidly. Paitonu leading Kil miss, Duke Abbey and Vivo into the straight. Paitonu looked a winner ’a the distance but Kilmiss challenged holy and Vivo came again. Thte finis! resuled in Kilmiss beating Vivo by al most a length and Paitonu was a sini' lar distance third. Then came Othon Cohesion. Bright Day, Duke Abbey amJoy Bird. GOOD WIN FOR HOLUS BOLUS. All started in the Awahuri Hack Handicap. Calluna was a warm favourite, carrying over 250 more tickets than Aropeta, with Royal Elm another 56 less. Valuator and Green Acre showed out smartly but at the end of a furlong Green Acre and Holus Bolus had tun into the lead. Holus Bolus led Green Acre at the four furlongs, and then came Maui, Valuator aud Royal Elm. Holus Bolus led into the straight and won in hollow fashion from Royal Elm. who ran through a beaten crowd into second place. Green Acre was a fair third and Calluna fourth. Holus Bolus showed a remarkable improvement on the first day's running. BENZORA JUST GETS HOME. Ilalginas’ withdrawal from the Denbigh Handicap reduced tho field to a bare two dividend one. Kiosk was en trusted with almost one-third of the totalisator investments, Benzora bad about 300 less and Bonogne another few less. Vast Acre led a bunched field from an even start. Vast Acre then drew out from Jeanette, Dobbin and Benzora, with Kiosk and Bonogne as whippers in. Vast Acre was two lengths clear of Benzora at the top bend and in the run to the straight Bonogne came fast into third place, followed by Kiosk. Vast Acre was first into the straight but failed to run on, leaving the finish to Benzora and Bonogne, Benzora winning a good race by half a length. Kiosk was a length away. #nd Vast Acre fourth. Boundary was the only withdrawal from the field for the Waiata Stake*. Goldbag was picked.out as the best of a bad lot, but Royal Lover carried only 100 less. Goldbag hopped out in front and was never headed, winning easily by three lengths from Fermanagh, who was half a length in front of Royal Lover. Service finished fourth. FINE RACE FOR THE OROUA. Only two were withdrawn from the Oroua Hack Cup. A fine field of fifteen of the best hacks ou this coast started After one breakaway all moved in aline, Flying Shot, Royal Acre and Vigilance being at the head of a bunclied crowd. Racing out of the straight Kahu Ariki assumed command passing the six furlongs post, Royal Acre, Vigilance and Flying Shot being next. Limosa was a good way back at this stage. Kahu Ariki, Royal Acre, Vigilance and Flying Shot were prominent as the field swept into the straight, Limosa closing up fast with Red Fuchsia and Royal Elm. Limosa finished at a great pace to win by a length from Red Fuschia, who was a length and a half ahead of Royal Elm. . Then came Royal Acre, Always and Vigilance. MANLY WINS ON THE POST All started in the Makino Handicap. Whenuanui and Partaga were strongly backed. Whenuanui was in front when the field settled down, followed by Wanderlust, Peneus and Othon. The field closed up q i entering the straight, Partaga and Bonogne being in front at the distance and were fighting out » great finish when Manly came fast 08. the outside and just snatched a victory. The judge was unable to separate Par. taga and Bonogne. Peneus was fourth.
