PARTY CONFERENCE OPENS. By Telegraph—Press Assn.— Copyright. Received April 7, 5.5 p.m. A. and N.Z. Sydney, April 7. The Australian Labour Party Conference opened with Mr. Garden's supporters in control. Much argument marked the proceedings, with allegations of corrupt practices regarding the Albury group ballot. The conference decided that the Labour Party, if successful at the next election, should legislate making it obligatory that a Labour member should vacate his seat if be fails to carry out the directions of the party.
