RELATIONS WITH EGYPT
THE ATMOSPHERE IMPROVED INCIDENT PROBABLY CLOSED. BRITISH GOVERNMENT’® POLICY. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Ccpyflght. A. and N.Z. Cairo, April 5. The political atmosphere has greatly improved owing to the receipt of the British Note and Nahas Pasha’s statement in the Chamber, during which he declared that the Egyptian Note, which the British Cabinet unanimously approved, represented the Government’s policy of safeguarding Egypt’s interests while maintaining Anglo-Egyptian friendliness on a programme best suited to strengthen Anglo-Egyptian ties. It is believed that the statement closes the incident and that no further Notes are necessary. The relief felt is traceable to the belief that the memorandum of March 4, in reference to administrative action, suggested that Britain would intervene at any moment she chooses, which the Note is regarded as removing.
