MAN FALLS UNDER TRAIN

DEATH ALMOST INSTAS . . . . > -I. By Telegraph,—Press Association. Auckland, April 5. Thomas Manly, of Ohaeawai, was killed at the Okaihau railway station last night. Shortly after the seven o’clock train arrived Manly, who was middleaged, was seen leaning against the railing of the carriage. Apparently while the shunting operations were in progress he remembered leaving his walking stick in the carriage, for the stick was found after the accident, and in stepping on to the platform he slipped and fell between two carriages. Cries were heard by persons at the station, and Mr. Charles Blair applied the Westinghouse brake, but the body was dragged some distance. Death must have been almost instantaneous.
