FLOODS IN UNITED STATES
CLOUDBURST AND CYCLONE FOUR DEAD, FIVE MISS'NG MUCH PROPERTY DAMAGE By Telegraph—Press Assn—Copyright. Received April 6, 5.5 p.m, A. and N.Z. New York, April 5. News from Kansas City states that cloudbursts and cyclonic wind storms whipped through the south-west. Four lives are known to be lost, and five persons are missing. Hundreds are homeless and many thousands of dollars’ worth of property has been damaged. Tornadoes are reported at half-a-dozen places in Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas and Arkansas. A deluge of rain followed the winds, flooding the lowland areas for miles. Cdftimunieations from the stricken points are disorganised, and order is still unrestored in many places, making an accurate check of the number of dead and injured impossible. Rain at Shawnee (Oklahoma) washed stores, houses and business buildings from their foundations, while the flood at Oaters swept away two women.
