THEFT FROM RESIDENCE
MONEY AND GOODS STOLEN HOME ENTERED AT BULLS. AN ARREST AT INGLEWOOD. An arrest on suspicion of responsibility for the theft of money and goods from the residence of Mr. J. B. Gaisford at Bulls, was effected by Constable Longbottom at Inglewood yesterday. A man who gave his name as Michael Joseph O’Grady alighted from .a service car from the south, and Constable Longbottom recognised. in his a likeness to to description received by telegraph ot the man suspected of committing tlie robbery at Bulls. O’Grady was brought before the Court at Inglewood yesterday and was remanded to appear at Palmerston North on Monday. Reporting the breaking, entering and theft, a Press Association message states: — “Early on Thursday evening the residence of Mr. J. B. Gaisford, the wellknown racehorse owner, situated on the main road at Bulls, was broken into and a sum of £2O in money, a quantity of wine and also a small quantity of clothing were stolen. A suspected person was seen near the house earlier. When warning was given the owner found that the thief had disappeared, leaving behind him a ragged blue overcoat. Entrance had been obtained through a bedroom window. A search along° the Parewanui Road revealed a broken bottle, indicating that the thief had indulged in wine. A few hours later it was found that the residence of Mr. W. J. Ellery, about two miles away, had also been entered while the occupants were milking, and a sum of £4 taken. A close watch is being kept on all roads in the district.
