In her petition for divorce Lady Cheylesmore, giving evidence; • stated that life in Alberta was’ very rough and comfortless, a; id she had to dine with the servants. Lord Cheylesmore was annoyed because she accompanied him, and said he could do better if he were a bachelor. He drank heavily, and was abusive. Ho said he did not want her. as his parents were antagonistic. Her mother-in-law taunted her continuously until she was reduced to a elate of collapse, and in desperation she told her husband she was going to have a child, after which matters mended somewhat. When she revealed that no child was coming, Lord Oheylesmore declared that she could stay with him no longer. She claimed that the marriage was one of affection despite Lord Cheyfosmore’s denial.
