Mr. H. Cocker, who has been ill for some time, is now convalescent and making favourable progress. Mr. J. B. Bennett, master of the Opaku School. Patea, lias been appointed master of the Taikorea School, Manawatu, which he will take over at the beginning of the year. A message from Munich states that Marshal Von Ludendorff is in a state of coma following an operation for goitre, ami his condition is most erifieal.—Press Assn. At a meeting of the general committee of the Taranaki Agricultural and Pastoral Society yesterday resolutions of sympathy were passed with Mr. F. E. Wilson and the relatives of the lafo Mr. L. Seamark, Omata, in their, recent bereavements. The death occurred at New Plymouth yesterday morning of Air. C. Allen. The late Mr. Allen had held a position with the New Plymouth Sash and Door Com- * pany for many years, and prior to that wag in the employ of Messrs. 11. Brown and Co., at Stratford. He went to hig work as usual on Thursday morning, but later complained of feeling unwell and went home. Medical advice was obtained, but this mdrning -his condition was worse and he was removed to the hospital, where lie collapsed and died shortly after admission. The late Mr. Allen had always taken a keen interest in sport and was a prominent and popular member of the Fitzroy Bowling Club. Mr. Allen, who was a bachelor, has several brothers and sisters residing in the district.
