CONTROL BOARD
“BITTEN OFF MORE THAN WE CAN CHEW.” MR. WILFORD’S IMPRESSIONS. (-From Our Own Correspondent.) Wellington, Dec. 2. ■ So long as the Dairy Control Board exists so°long will it be subject to the severest criticism, and appeals to have the compulsory powers of the board eliminated will be frequent. Those in favour of the board ask for a fair trial for its policy. The board is getting that fair trial, and will have the whole of the present season to prove itself. The troubles of the board have been transferred from New Zealand to London. The Hon. T. M. Wilford, who has just returned from a lengthy visit to the Old Country, stated that he had talked the matter over with prominent men in London, and the general answer which had been given him, with a smile, was summed up in the expression that we had “bitten off more than we can chew.” The board has now to deal with tue trade in Britain, and not -with critics in New Zealand.
