KAPONGA NEWS

(From Our Own Correspondent.) A general meeting of the Kaponga Cycle Club was held in the Coffee Palace on Wednesday, December 1. Present: Mr. A. Melville, Mr. J. Charters, Mr. W. Noonan, Mr. W. L. Roberts, Mr. E. W. Blackwell and Mr. H. Boeock (secretary), members of the executive and several honorary and active members of the club. The proposed sports meeting at Eltliam was discussed, and it was decided to leave the matter over to the next meeting. Tlie action of the president and secretary in procuring a cup in Wanganui was unanimously endorsed. It was decided that the cup be an annual points prize for track and road performances, to be won twice in succession or three times at intervals to become the property of the holder. The secretary was instructed to write to outside riders regarding cup races, and it was : ho decided to insure the cup, which is valued at £ll Ils. It was decided to purchase another cup for a series of road races to be held after the New Year. The small cup is valued at £3 3s, and is at present on view, with the big one, in a local shop window. The next race is to be held on Saturday, December 11, and the course will be twice around the Palmer Road block, a distance of 22 miles. It was decided that, subject to Mr. A. George's consent, hie medal be presented to the rider scoring the most points at the first track meeting held by the club.
