EVIDENCES OF PROGRESS. By Tdegrapii.—Press Association. Auckland, Nov. 30. The Hon. Mr. Bagnall, Minister of Finance in Tonga, is a passenger by the Tofua on a holiday visit. He says the fruit season in Tonga appeared to be a good one. Mr. A. B. Ross, A.D.C. to the Administrator of Samoa, a passenger by the Tofua, said there had been a little squabble down there, but it had been satisfactorily settled. He expressed the opiuion that Samoa had turned the corner and a great future was assured. Dr. Ritchie, chief medical officer at Samoa, a passenger on the Tofua, stated that the health of the people during the past year had been exceptionally good. Hookworm had been successfully tackled and would soon be stamped out.
