RIFLE SHOOTING.
SAT URDAY'S COM PETIT lONS. At the Rewa Revva rifle range on Saturday, the first competition of the second series of the short range aggregate was completed. The weather was stormy and the conditions far from suitable for shooting. The scores were:—
The second competition at 500 and 600 yards, will be fired next Thursday and Saturday, and the first stage of the club's championship on December 11. A teams’ match will take place in conjunction with the handicap competition, the conditions being teams of six, the highest four scores to count, the winning team taking the Sole Shield. The drawing of the teams resulted as follows:—President’s team: Higgs, Marett, Pearson, S. Hartnell, McArtney, and Hill. Deputy-President’s team: Taylor, McGahey, Clarke, Moore, Hall and Jarvis. Rflmn. Hogg’s team: Hogg, George, Turnbull; Ramson, Gorringe and Robinson. No. 90 Company Senior Cadets competed for the Kebbell Shield last Wednesday. The shield is a challenge one, competed for by teams of ten cadets each from any company of senior cadets, secondary schools excepted, in the Central Command. The matches were: Five rounds application with one compulsory sighter; five rounds snapshooting; ~ and 10 rounds rapid, time 60 seconds, distance 25 yards, rifle S.M.L.E. .303. .Ten teams from the company competed, the scores made by four of them being exceptionally good.
