VESSEL BUFFETED BY STORM
DAMAGE TO THE KAMONA. Br Telegraph.—Press Association. Invercargill, Nov. 29. The steamer Kamona, which reached Bluff from Westport on Sunday, experienced a severe buffeting in the vicinity of Puysegur Point. One of the ship’s boats was washed from the chocks on the top deck and smashed against a water tank. A provision safe was washed overboard and thrown back on deck. The steering wheel was badly damaged and the crew’s quarters became untenable. They had to shelter in the engine room. It was considered too dangerous to turn the vessel and run for shelter, and she had to be hove to until the weather moderated.
