FAST TIMES AT WELLINGTON. By Telegraph.—Frees Association. Wellington, Last Night. At the postponed Wellington Athletic Club’s meeting this evening, the outstanding performance was that of Miss Nancy Eastwood, of Gisborne, who lowered Miss Maxwell’s New Zealand record time of 11 4-ssec by one-fifth of a second. Miss E. Porter, the present New Zealand champion, was unplaced, while Miss R. Manton (Wellington) and Miss N. Wilson (Gisborne) dead-heated for second place. In the 100yds club race, C. Jenkins was credited with doing “even time,” although the track was inclined to be heavy as the result of rain during the day. The Wellington ladies’ relay team (Misses Porter, F. Stevenson, R. Manton and S. Swinburne), who have equalled the world’s record of 49sec for 440yds, defeated the Gisborne team (Misses M. McDonald, N. Wilson, H. Hansen and N. Eastwood) by two yards, the time being 53see. They withstood a challenge for the Etaveneaux Cup. The 75 yards ladies’ handicap was won by Miss King (Wellington), with Misses Hansen and Eastwood filling second and third places respectively. Owen Poltridge (Gisborne), competing re the 100yds open, was second in his heat and unplaced in the final.
