Coyle, of Wellington, as secretary of the Newcastle Hospital is meeting with strong local .i t . sition. The committee is calling a conference of representatives of the district industrial ...otis to consider the withdrawal of industrial subscriptions to the hospital, totalling £30,000 annually, until the ; osition is satisfactorily adjusted. Other public bodies have also expressed disapproval with the appointment. The Mayor of Newcastle declared he could not um-c. stand the president of the hospital board filling the position without first callreg -or general applications, and stated it was his intention to call a public meeting to protest against the appointment.
