LIFE-SAVING CLUB
END OF SEASON SOCIAL. The New Plymouth Ladies’ Life Saving Club held its final social and dance of the season in the New Plymouth Citizens’ bandroom on Saturday night. Despite the inclement weather that prevailed there was a good attendance, anil the function was a most successful one. The programme, which included several selections by the club orchestra under the eonduetorship of Air. Wilfred Groombridge, was a lengthy aud varied one, and had to be somewhat modified. Air. Rupert George aud his nigger minstrels provided an hour’s entertainment of old plantation songs, etc., which were greatly appreciated by those present. A dialogue by Mre. Avery and Aliss Evans entitled*" A Niece by Alarriage” was also given while others who rendered items included: vocal duet, Misses Cartwright; violin duet, Miss Al. Jones and Mr. A. Sowry: instrumental trio. Aliases Lcatham, Coleman and Ross: pianoforte trio, Airs. K. W. Lareen and Misses Sowry and Guscott. At the conclusion of the entertainment supper was dispensed: and the- evening concluded with dancing.
