KALGOORLIE MURDER
INFORMER CLAIMS REWARDS. Evan Clarke's solicitor has given a month's notice of his intention to file a petition of claim for the £lO9O reward ofiered by the Government to the person giving information leading to the arrest and conviction of the murderers of De-tective-Inspector Walsh and DetectiveSergeant Pitman near Boulder on April 28, for which William Coulter aud Phillip Treflene were executed on October t>. At the expiration of a month the petition will have the force of an ordinary writ. He has also written to the Chamber of Mines at Kalgoorlie claiming the £5OO reward which that body offered. The M estern Australian Government recently decided not to take further proceedings against Clarke, but announced that the reward would not be paid to anyone. Clarke had been committed for trial as an accessory after the fact.
