SOCIETY OF ACCOUNTANTS
TARANAKI BRANCH MEETS. The annual general meeting of the Taranaki branch of New Zealand Society of Accountants was held at New Plymouth recently, when members were present from all parts of the province. The president (Mr. V. Duff), in moving the adoption of the annual report and accounts dealt with the activities of the branch durhig the past year. The society had again this year subsidised the Students' Society at Hawera and New Plymouth. These societies were continuing to do good work, and members of the society were urged to give them their support and encourage the coming members of the profession to attend te lectures delivered under the. auspices of these societies. The adoption of the annual report was seconded by Mr. W. Power, who stated that he considered the annual meeting of the society should be held in Wellington, as being the most accessible place to all members. The opinion was expressed by Mr. AV. G. Walkley that all proposed legislation ; n any way connected with the finances of the country, should be considered by a committee appointed by the society, j as in several instances lately legislation had been passed which might, witli expert consideration, have been made to servo to greater advantage. The following committee was elected for the ensuing year: Messrs. W. G. Walkley, C. O. Freyburg (Hawera). AV. Power (Stratford), A'. Duff, S. E. Nielson and S. E. Shaw (New Plymouth). A recommendation was made to the incoming committee to bring before the council Hie necessity of having the Administration Act redrafted.
