IMPERIAL CONFERENCE

EFFECT OF ITS DECISIONS

DOMINIONS’ COMING OF AGE

NO FEAR OF DISRUPTION

By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Received Nov. 26, 7.55 p.m. London, Nov. 26.

The Secretary for the Dominions, Mr. Amery, in a broadcast address regarding the results of the Imperial Conference, emphasised the fact that the Dominions had come of age and their full equality with Great Britain was now recognised, though this does not mean equality of status, wealth, or population. For years Great Britain is bound to play the major part in the defence of the Empire and the settlement of its foreign policy.

The Dominions are now entitled to exercise every function of national life. There were critics who feared that this meant the beginning of the disruption of the Empire, but he did not believe this. The Empire was held together not by a central authority, but by common loyalty and ideals.
