There was a trag'sc termination to the Northern Counties’ boxing championship at Hull George Hart, aged 17, who was the English schoolboy champion In 1923, was boxing with the world’s schoolboy champion, when he received an uppercut on the point which caused Hart to fall. lie was carried out unconscious and, during a later bout it was announced that he had died. The audience immediately left the hall with bared heads.
