MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
SITTING AT WAITARA. A sitting of the Magistrate’s Court was held at Waitara yesterday, Mr. R. W. Tate, S.M., presiding. Judgment for the plaintiff by default was given in the following undefended civil oases: Waitara Borough Council v. Albert Clements, £7 10s (costs £l- - 6d); Gaustad, Marlow and Co. v. Gustav R. Sehwanim, £l3 0s 6d (£2los); M. J. Erceg v. F. M. Smith, ss--3d (10s);. W. Smith v. Thomas G. Lowe, £1 9s Id (10s); M. J. Erceg v. W. A. Watty, £1 2s 6d (8s); Dr. Adamson v. T. G.“ Lowe £6 te (£1 12s fld); H. Wells and Co. v. W. A. Watty, 16s (8s); Purchas and Son v. Poki Martin, fllas 6d (21s); M- Beekbessinger v. Rangihuta Johnson, £4 10s 4d (£1 8s 6d); 11. C. Wakely v. Kukukare, £1 (16s); H. Wells and Co. v. Hamarana Watene, £3 10s (£1 8s 6d); Fitzgerald and O'Neill v. Toke Onemihi, £8 9s Id (fllas Gd); William Marshall v. Frank McPhee, £4 2s (id. On a judgment summons Jack Te Huia was ordered to pay W.‘ Johnston the. sum of £l9 2s 10d' forthwith, in default 14 days’ imprisonment. At the suit of C. E. Bellringer and Son. Henry Moko was ordered to pay £4O 19s in monthly instalments of £l. On a judgment summons Andrew Eriwata was ordered to pay H. L. Abbott £6 10s 6d forthwith, in default G days’ imprisonment. At the suit of E. Reynolds, Kuhukare Push was ordered to pay £7 3s 3d forthwith, in default 7 days’ imprisonment. At the suit of E. W. Waters, Toke Pakanga was ordered to pay £4 18s lOd forthwith, in default 4 days’ imprisonment. For procuring a .22 calibre rifle in North'Canterbury without a permit, Leslie Syuney Waters was fined 10s, costs 7s. For being found on licensed premises, William Anderson and D. McGarvie were fined, the former 17s (costs 10s), and the latter 20s (7s). It was stated that they were found on Sunday afternoon in the passageway of the M aitara Hotel, McGarvie stating that they were both there to see a "waitress. Failure to send his five children to school cost Riu Batley, of Awakino, 10s on each charge and costs amounting to £2 2s.
